FAQs
How can I tell if my iPod needs service?

Visit our iPod support site or iPod nano support site for helpful troubleshooting information. If you have reviewed the articles on the website, and you're still not sure whether your iPod requires service, you can take your iPod to your local Apple retail store for diagnosis. Note: There may be a fee for diagnostic service.

How do I get my iPod serviced?

Easy! If your iPod is still covered by Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod or APP for iPod, complete the iPod service request form on our website. Once we receive your service request, we will send you a shipping box including a prepaid preaddressed return shipping label so you can send your iPod to us. Important information about preparing your shipment and the carrier to be used will be included with your shipping box. Please note: a physical address is required. Apple cannot ship to PO Boxes or APO Boxes. When we receive your iPod and confirm that the service request matches the iPod's condition, we will send you a replacement iPod that may be new or refurbished. The replacement iPod will be functionally equivalent to your iPod when new.

Will the data on my iPod be preserved?

No. You will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data, songs, or after-market personalization. Please back up important files and remove all data from your defective iPod before sending it to Apple. Please do not send any accessories with your iPod as they will not be returned.

Will my custom laser engraving on my iPod be preserved?

If your original iPod has a personalized engraving by Apple, you will have the option of having the replacement iPod engraved with the same text or replaced by a non-personalized iPod (benefiting from a faster service). If your original iPod was custom laser-engraved by another company, your replacement iPod will not be personalized.

How long will my iPod service take?

If your iPod is not personalized, you can expect service to be completed within approximately one week from the time you send your iPod to Apple. If your iPod is personalized, you can expect service to be completed within approximately ten calendar days from the time you send your iPod to Apple.

What is the status of my iPod service request?

You can check the status of your iPod service at any time on our easy repair status website.

How long is my iPod covered by Apple's warranty?

Your iPod is covered for one year by Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase (”date of purchase”). A $29.95 shipping and handling fee will apply to all warranty repairs performed 180 days after date of purchase. How can I tell if my iPod is in-warranty?

All iPods are covered by Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod for one year from the date of purchase. To determine your warranty coverage enter the serial number of your iPod in the "About Your Support Coverage" section on the Apple Support site. Apple may need to examine your proof of purchase document to verify your iPod's warranty status.

How much will my in-warranty service be?
